Wood Study 2x4Design 2
The assignment for this project was to use all sixteen of the 2x4’s from the studio, combine them to define a volume utilizing the action word assigned, The word I had to work with was 'interlocking.' With is word, I worked with a scaled-down version of the assignment to handle design possibilities. The use of any material or agent to bind or suspend the boards in place was prohibited. The final product is the result of allowing most of the pieces to interlock, creating height, and then incorporating the final pieces so that their position is dependent on their ability to interconnect with the rest of the model. The two boards that come to a point beyond the main structure balance on the two boards that jut out in opposition to the chief orientation of design. |
